Dr. Wendy Reed Dr. Wendy Reed

Dr. Wendy Reed is a metallurgist in the Division of Engineering, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Dr. Reed has worked at the NRC for over 11 years, during which time she has worked on a variety of projects, including efforts to develop a regulatory framework for spent fuel reprocessing facilities, and spent fuel storage and transportation license renewal.

She is currently the technical lead for advanced reactor chemistry and corrosion in the Division of Engineering, with a focus on molten salt reactors, where she supports regulatory research efforts to develop competencies in molten salt chemistry, and NRC’s readiness to regulate non-LWR technologies.
She holds a BSc (with Honors) and a Ph.D., both in chemistry, from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining the NRC, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
